Nā Kai ʻEwalu Data Hale – Kanaka ʻŌiwi Community Held Data Portal Home
Welcome
Our collective, named Nā Kai ʻEwalu ("The Eight Currents"), brings together lawaiʻa and scientists under the guidance of elder fisher and marine steward Uncle Mac Poepoe. We partner skilled indigenous subsistence fishers with conventional scientists to use traditional knowledge and conventional scientific methods for studying pressing environmental and resource management questions across the island chain.
This data portal has been established to steward data relating to Nā Kai 'Ewalu monitoring, stewardship projects and scientific publications. Our project data are accessible through the "Data Sharing" page, linked in the menu above.
